What Survives a Power Cut

After enough time working with AI, I dropped a habit: trying to finish everything in one go.

Networks drop. Context windows overflow. Tasks drift. The robust way is to cut work into atomic blocks — each one independently verifiable, so wherever things break, you resume right there.

This isn't really about AI. It's the universal strategy for unreliable environments: you can't guarantee the process won't be interrupted, but you can guarantee no interruption resets you to zero.

Judge a system not by how fast it runs downwind, but by how much survives a power cut.
